another weapon in the war against weight
|
Dieting and I have quite a checkered history. We go way back. Like any relationship ours has had its ups and downs. Recently I noticed my once pear-shaped body has morphed into an apple-shape. I blame that on the three pregnancies I have experienced.
As you may recall, I mentioned that my body is holding weight in the stomach area and I don't like it one bit. This is war. My mind and my body are in a dietary battle. My mind will win the fight. This shape change information is just more tactical information that will result in a victory somewhere down the line.
In my effort to amass more dieting tools I recently discovered a site called My Fitness Pal and it's completely free. As you probably know, that's my price, baby.
The best part of the site is the calorie counter. When you join the site (to get a user name and password) you enter your current weight and height, your goal weight, your activity level and your preferred weight loss rate (maintain weight, slow weight loss, aggressive weight loss, etc.) From there, the site will calculate how many calories you can eat each day and how many calories you must burn each day. As my husband always says, the body is a mean accountant.
Enter the calorie counter. You just enter what you ate that day and the counter tallies up your calories used so far and tells you how many calories are left to consume. This section also has a diet journal which allows you to make notes, track your water consumption and record the food you ate. That's nice information to have at a glance.
Oh, but that's not all. There's also a calorie chart which allows you to search for the food item you want to enter. Say, for example, you ate a hamburger at McDonald's for lunch. Type hamburger in the search bar and click on search.
You can scroll through the choices they provide and end up on "Fast foods - Hamburger, regular, single patty, with condiments and vegetables" (just in case they threw a piece of lettuce on that bad boy).
When you select that item, you will be given all of the nutritional information in the chart right next to the search box. Now you can enter that info into your calorie counter.
They also have a forum so you can converse with your fellow dieters.
All in all, it's like an M-47 added to my arsenal of dieting tools. I should have the insurgent fat pockets on my hips surrendering in no time. This is a Sponsored Review.
